Healthy Communities 2021 Grants Awards

JSCF is very excited that ten nonprofits who serve residents of our Upper Susitna Valley community will receive funding through Healthy Community grants this year.  As is typical, the requests were almost double the total amount of funding available so the committee had some very difficult decisions to make.  We were able to fund some brand new projects as well as sustain some ongoing needs.  All of our focus areascompassionate health care, enjoyment of the natural environment, social engagement, artistic expression, and innovative education–were represented as was the underserved population in our communities.

If you could see everything, you would observe cancer patients getting rides to medical appointments in Wasilla and Anchorage or kids enjoying the outdoors while in day camp.  You would see some folks working on getting curling equipment to be ready for the winter bonspiels and others planning for a major renovation of the Historical Society.  The news from KTNA would be delivered uninterrupted and people would be getting clothing and other items from the Free Box.  When you passed by the Talkeetna Elementary School, you would hear the sounds of children as they learned from some talented artists how to express themselves using their own creativity using some great art supplies.  At Thanksgiving, you could experience the warmth of knowing that families are able to enjoy a traditional turkey dinner without having to sacrifice something else.  And finally, all year long you would know that people who are experiencing some difficulties in their lives are able to have an emergency financial need met.

When you donate to JSCF, you are a part of making all this happen.  Great communities don’t happen by chance!
