Jessica Stevens Community Foundation

JSCF Nonprofit Mini-Grant Events

The promise of spring has our fundraising committee at the Jessica Stevens Community Foundation thinking about how we can grow and cultivate awareness of the foundation. It is hard to believe it has been 16 years since the inception of JSCF! Considering that time span in relation to the ebb and flow of the communities of the Upper Susitna Valley, we realize there are many who did not know Jessica and have little to no idea of what we are all about.

In March, JSCF was featured on Su Valley Voice. A portion of the show featured testimonials from long-time friends of Jessica, sharing stories of her passion for caring for people in our community. You can hear the program on if you missed it.

Looking forward, we are focusing on five events this year in which we can provide some fun and raise awareness across our communities. At each event we will feature 6 area nonprofits. Come visit us and get a token to put in the jar of your choice. Two mini grants of $100 each will be awarded by JSCF to the winning non-profits at each of the five events.

Talkeetna Recycling Gardening at the Upper Susitna Food Pantry

On April 20 you can find us at the Earth Day Celebration hosted by Denali Education Center, where we will ask participants to put a chit in a jar designating one of their favorite environmentally-minded nonprofits including The Upper Susitna Food Pantry, Trapper Creek Community Services Association – Free Box, Denali Education Center, Susitna River Coalition, Talkeetna Recycling, and Friends of the Talkeetna Library.

Look for the JSCF table at other 2024 events including Live at Five, the Trapper Creek Fireweed Festival, the Sunshine Clinic Community Celebration, and the DAC Holiday Bazaar. It is our hope that through these events, we will reach a diverse and perhaps new group of people in addition to our beloved continuous supporters, who are receptive to building healthy, vibrant communities.
