Estate Planning Workshop What will your Legacy be?

A standing-room-only crowd of Upper Susitna Valley residents gathered in early February for an Estate Planning and Will Preparation Workshop hosted by the Jessica Stevens Community Foundation (JSCF).  Sincere thanks go out to the two Alaskan attorneys who volunteered their time and legal expertise: David Rohlfing (Shaftel Delman LLC) discussed trusts and other legacy planning options, while Frank Nosek (Nosek Law Group, LLC) walked the participants through completion of several legal documents. Participants were able to walk out the door with notarized Wills, Durable Power of Attorney documents, and Advanced Heathcare Directives.  Additional thanks go out to Elizabeth Miller, Vice President of Philanthropy at the Alaska Community Foundation, who encouraged charitable giving in end-of-life planning, and to the staff at the Talkeetna Public Library who provided professional notary services.

Jessica Stevens Community Foundation and the Alaska Community Foundation are committed providing future community workshops and training opportunities to enhance the lives of the residents of the Upper Susitna Valley.  Stay tuned for more information regarding an upcoming FireWise workshop in late April as one of the local Earth Day activities — homeowners and other residents will learn ways to better prepare themselves and make their property safer in the face of wildfires.
